The ruin of the monastery church in Paulinzella is one of the most important Romanesque buildings in Germany. A hunting lodge was built in the southwest of the monastery church by the middle of the 17th century, which was used by the counts and later princes of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. An extensive exhibition on the history of the monastery, forestry and hunting has been set up on the main floor of the building by the Thuringian State Museum Heidecksburg Rudolstadt.
Follow in the footsteps of Schwarzburg nobility, one of the oldest Thuringian noble families, and discover the fascinating history of the complex as well as the fascination of the monastery ruins and the picturesque nature of the surrounding area!
We look forward to seeing you!
